Problem Context

How might we enable higher fidelity audio experiences at home?

How might we work around the constraints of small living spaces?

How might we design a low cost and scalable audio solution?

Deliverables

  • 3 In depth interviews

  • Research informed MVP

  • Sketch prototypes

  • Sprint based design

Product Definition

From our in person interviews with gamers and other users living in small living spaces we realized there was a need for a scalable audio solution that could also deliver a high end sound experience. That was what Astro Web was built out of

UX Design

The UX design was to have a simplistic user interface that would compliment the hardware both aesthetically and from an experience standpoint. For this reason the goal was to create a low maintenance control scheme that would visually mimic the speakers location in the room to create an intuitive experience

Competitive Audit

I initially did a competitive audit of other products in the same realm that we could draw visual and interface inspiration from. This audit was used both to inform the design as well as the strategic product placement

Site Map

Once I had an idea of important design features I developed a site map to inform the site layout and understand what features would need to be focused on

Design

Web was designed to create a skeuomorphic visual representation of the devices position in the world. The devices equalizer setting creates the illusion of you literally pulling the sound towards the corners of your room to direct it.
